Sadly, I didn't take many Christmas pictures this year.
Sometimes, I just want to enjoy the moment and not feel the need of capturing it all on film. I'm sure I'll regret it b/c years from now the details will be blurred. When I said "years" I really mean by December 2015. *sigh*
As mentioned earlier, this year I was pretty behind in my holiday shopping and connecting with old friends and family.
I actually wrote a letter that I was going to print on to fun, festive paper. But that required an additional trip to yet another store. And I have been out of printer ink for two weeks.
So, in case you actually read my blog ----- here were the 2014 highlights:
Dear Family + Friends,
Merry Christmas!!! As always the year has just zoomed by and we’re wondering where it all went!!
Lots of changes this year for the Byrne family! We moved!! (again!) A whole five blocks !!! We decided to down size with this move, into a three bedroom apartment. Since life in So. California has continued to get more and more expensive, we decided we could live with less and enjoy life more. So, in August we changed our address: xxxx East Palm Avenue, #x, El Segundo, CA 90245.
William became a first grader this fall! He’s a Tiger Cub Scout this year and played soccer this fall. We think his heart is more into his water sports so we’re heading back into swimming first thing in January 2015. He's our energetic, funny guy and love animals.
Emily loves second grade! Yeah! She had a wonderful start to her year by playing sea creature no. 4 in the Little Mermaid production --- here at the world famous El Segundo Rec Center. As we speak she’s preparing for her next role --- pirate Scotty in Peter Pan (with a brief cameo as a mermaid). Her heart seems to bring her to the performing arts. She's our kind, fun girl with a flare for the dramatic.
Brian’s job has taken him to Las Vegas, where he’s helping create a huge venue for a huge hotel. Sadly for us, that means he lives in Las Vegas for three to four days a week. He loves his work and we’re all crossing our fingers that LA coughs up a football team so Brian can build a stadium here and not travel!
As for me ---- after 3 ½ years, I’m leaving my sales position. Lots of reasons led me to the decision and it was a tough one to make. I’ve always had a finger in the architectural world, so I’ll keep that going while I pursue a few other endeavors.
We had an amazing trip this August to Colorado ---- we accompanied Brian on a work trip to Denver and then spent a week in Breckenridge. The Rockies took our breath away and it was wonderful to see our kids in the mountains. We spoiled them with an incredible place to stay, a white water rafting trip, fishing and lots of walks along rivers and trails --- all with the back drop off the beautiful mountains. That fresh air and scenery had us wondering if we could carve a life out for ourselves in Colorado and leave the ocean behind ----- but so far we have made no plans!
We made a trip out to Washington DC to visit the Scholz/Waldrop clan. It was a SUPER fast trip while the kids were on Spring Break ---- so please don’t get offended b/c I didn’t get in touch ---- (and know we’d love to see you in CA!!) We are hoping to catch up with the Byrne side next year!!
Of course, there’s too much to write in a card about the journey we’ve taken in 2014. We have been truly blessed with a year of health and happiness.
We wish you a wonderful holiday season!!! We hope you have a happy New Year and enjoy 2015 to it’s fullest!!!!
And there you have it! Did you like how I made sure our new address was included. Because they were going out right after Thanksgiving so everyone would be updated.
Yep. That worked out well.
