It was one of those weekend days where Brian was out for the day and I had the kids. I decided that we'd do a trip down to the Aquarium of the Pacific and then find our way over to the San Pedro Mammal Rescue Center. I packed a picnic figuring we'd find a park somewhere along the way ----
So, I had the general outline ---- and we got much more out of this day than we'd planned! The Aquarium is wonderful ---- a new baby sea lion was on show and the kids love the touch tanks. We even saw a shark feed which is new to us.
We headed over the scary high.....LONG bridge to San Pedro and got a little lost --- discovering a cool park overlooking the water. Beautiful lighthouse, fun playground and lots of grass to play on.
There were a group of people picnicing in "old fashioned" clothes. I have no idea why, but it was like watching Downton Abbey live. Even their kids were decked out. We asked one of them at the park what they were up to but the little girl only replied, "I have no idea". Which can only mean that they are a secret DA cult that gathers for picnics in old fashioned clothing.
And I want IN.
So.......after that we went to the Marine Mammal Rescue Center and it was a traffic nightmare. There seemed to be a few events going on and I thought, " Scr!w this!"
I can be so impatient sometimes --- but as it turned out ---- it was the Center's yearly anniversary! Lots of free crafts, ocean information and tons of sea lions.
The kids and I had a great time ---- got to love those fun surprises!
Sea Lions are delivering their babies WAY under weight --- we have to protect our oceans!!!
