Believe it or not, we are at our one year mark of Brian travelling to Vegas EVERY week!! It hasn't been easy and it took some serious getting used to ---- I'm not sure it'll ever feel "normal". We do a lot of phone calls or FaceTime. Kind of depends on the connection we can get and how focused I can get the kids. It's funny because they really miss Brian and talk about him all the time, but when he calls, they seem to forget everything that happened during their day or just don't feel like talking!!
There are A LOT of obstacles with having one parent away consistently. Namely, the other parent (that would be me) manages the load --- and we all know that it's not easy doing school, homework, meals, laundry, cleaning, pets, sports, activities, etc. So, I can't say I've been too thrilled every time he has to go catch the 6:00 am flight out of LA. And when he walks back in....two, three or four (depends every week) days later, I am not always the brightest, sweetest person.
But he loves his project and the people he works with --- and his project is HUGE --- a great opportunity and something he's proud to be a part of ---- so we pull together as a family to get it to work.
Thank Goodness for our phones and ipads!!
